“Trick or Treat?” We think it’s time for a treat! We are back after a very busy and awesome summer. We are kicking off this coming season with a classic and filling treat for your bellies. We will be making homemade meatball subs with a quick marinara sauce. It will be messy to eat but ohhh so worth it.

At The Tasty Palette we are all about having fun, gaining confidence in cooking skills but also being self sufficient and well rounded in the kitchen. So, with that in mind your kiddos will also be learning how to keep a tidy work area by cleaning as they go. Cooking and baking are so much fun but they can also make huge messes. It’s “Chowda” time! The craziness of North Carolina weather can’t stop us from making a fall/winter classic. This hearty soup is easy enough to make, but loaded with some complex flavors. The “cherry on top” will be adding some warm garlic rolls to go with it.

We are baking again and hope you can join us. We will be making homemade soft pretzels with a special dip to compliment them. We will learn about yeast and it’s importance in pretzel making and how to baby sit them to make sure they come out better than Aunt Annies. ;)

We are at it again, but this time we are BAKING!. That’s right, our first baking pop-up class. We will be making a fun and unique cookie called a Krembo. What’s better than a plain sugar cookie? A sugar cookie (from scratch of course) with a marshmallow topping and dipped in a hard chocolate shell, that’s what! Each child will go home with about a dozen cookies and a recipe to be able to recreate these at home for the family. In this class we will be making a pan-seared pork chop with browned butter apples and to encourage good knife skills a chopped salad with homemade dressing. Ready to start the new year with a kick? Get excited for a super easy recipe to build your kids confidence in the kitchen. We will be making enchiladas, with a twist. We will be wrapping up 2021 with one last class. Homeschool edition. This time we are making quinoa “fried rice”. A gluten free and healthy addition to any menu. Fun fact “quinoa- pronounced “keen-wha” not “key-noah,” is the only grain that is a complete protein. So it’s super yummy and super nutritious. Ever get bored of eating the same turkey and sides after Thanksgiving!? In this class we are going to use that leftover turkey in a new and fun way. We will be making homemade stove-top biscuits with a turkey cranberry salad filling. It’s that perfect chance for your kids to make a big flour mess that you don’t have to worry about cleaning up.
